I learned to knit for the second time when I was 19.
The first time, I was 9. My grandmother tried to teach me garter stitch.
My "scarf" somehow miraculously gained a bunch of stitches...
Needless to say, that didn't last very long.
At 19 I got the basics all right.
Heck, I could even get the difference between stockinette and garter.
There was ribbing and moss stitch too. I thought I was pretty slick.
I figured there wasn't much I couldn't handle.
Then I saw my first lace chart.
Eh, maybe later.
I went on this way in ignorant bliss for years. And then...
